Chemical Peel for dark skin?

Posted by oswald 385 days ago Chemical peel News
There are countless types of chemical peels that are commonly used by physicians. The peels generally contain a specific acid (examples include glycolic acid, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid TCA) that acts to coagulate or destroy the superficial layers of skin. Read More

What's the best minimally-invasive treatment for hyperpigmentation caused by chemical peels?

Posted by oswald 385 days ago Chemical peel News
If the doctor only used 20% TCA (this is really not very strong) much of this should improve with time and sun avoidance/ sun screens (SPF 30 plus). Bleaching creams and/or dilute Retin A may help but I am not sure I would recommend them when you are trying to get pregnant.

What does your surgeon say? Are you still seeing him or her? Hyperpigmentation after peeling really requires a doctor's Read More

Microdermabrasion or Chemical Peel a week before Active FX or Deep FX?

Posted by oswald 385 days ago Chemical peel News
There are different degrees that you can carry out microdermabrasion and chemical peels prior to Active FX or CO2 laser resurfacing. Depending on the depth, this could effect your laser treatment. If done deeper, the CO2 laser will then be more aggressive than the doctor had anticipated and could lead to complications such as scarring and pigmentation problems. I would not do any significant proc Read More

In terms of acne scars, what are the major differences between peels and laser resurfacing?

Posted by vinaysinghkr 384 days ago Chemical peel News

In addition, for some patients with deep 'ice pick' acne scars, additional procedures must be undertaken to elevate the scar and the Read More

Is Chemical Peel or Laser Skin Resurfacing the best treatment for me?

Posted by abel 384 days ago Chemical peel News
For wrinkle reduction, the gold standard non-surgical treatment would be CO2 Laser. This is excellent but has a very high likelyhood of causing skin depigmentation. It makes wide pores narrower. There is some risk of scarring. In my experience, peels are also effective, but will leave pores wider, in many instances. I am not sure if there is a peel that won't cause this effect on pores.

Will a chemical peel work for stretch marks?

Posted by vinaysinghkr 384 days ago Chemical peel News
Chemical peels generally are not helpful for stretch marks.
There are two basic kinds of stretch marks: newer pink/red ones and older white ones. The newer pink/red ones respond to laser and light devices such as the IPl and Pulsed-Dye laser. The old white stretch marks are very difficult to treat. Topical tretinoin cream can be helpful. The Relume laser (290-320 nm wavelength light) might re-pig Read More

After TCA peel, should I be moisturizing or using Aquaphor on my skin?

Posted by vinaysinghkr 384 days ago Chemical peel News
Dear Lily: The problem with a moisturizer after a TCA 20% peel is that the skin is often so dry that a moisturizer will not cut it. A little vaseline or aquaphor are exactly what you need. Recognize that these products are not compatible with make up and are comedogenic, meaning they cause pimple or millia. Showering twice a day is also helpful. Once you no longer need the vaseline, then the mill Read More
